Mr. Adil Husain
President, and Senior Advisor for Greater China
Adil is responsible for the overall strategy of the firm, and overseeing client relationships. He is also responsible for leading business development in the Greater China region, and for overseeing the management and execution of projects concerning those markets. Adil is based in Shanghai.
Prior to founding Emerging Asia, Adil was a senior member of the Corporate Strategy practice at the management consulting firm Kaiser Associates in Washington DC. At Kaiser, he managed due diligence and business strategy consulting engagements for Fortune 100 clients from across the consumer goods, electronics, telecommunications and media & entertainment industries. His clients there included some of the most recognizable and admired global corporations. He previously worked at KPMG’s Economic Consulting Services practice in New York, and at the Corporate Executive Board Company in Washington DC.
Adil has been a Fellow at the Ronald H. Brown Center for Politics and Commercial Diplomacy (2000) and the Salzburg Seminar (2006). He has published and given talks about political and military strategy in Asia. He holds a BA from Middlebury College, with High Honors in Political Science and a concentration in Economics, and he has studied Mandarin at the Middlebury College Chinese School.
Mr. Sulaiman Ijaz
Senior Advisor for South Asia & Gulf States
Sulaiman is responsible for leading business development in the South Asia & Gulf region, and for overseeing the management and execution of projects concerning those markets. He is based in Karachi.
Prior to joining Emerging Asia, Sulaiman was a consultant in the Corporate Finance practice at McKinsey & Company in New York City. His work spanned a range of industries and functional specialities, including a new product launch for a U.S. telecom operator, performing financial portfolio diagnostic and re-organization for a Qatar-based conglomerate, and developing corporate strategy for an integrated gas exploration and production company. Sulaiman previously worked on Wall Street, where he traded mortgage-backed securities at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). In that capacity, he served a variety
of clients — particularly insurance companies, banks and hedge funds.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yale University with a BS in Mathematics. He is conversant in Mandarin and is a student of Arabic.
Mr. Kevin Lee Coll
Advisor, Greater China
Kevin is responsible for conducting business development in the Greater China region, particularly Taiwan, and for the management and execution of projects in that market. He is based in Taipei.
Prior to joining Emerging Asia, Kevin pursued entrepreneurial ventures in international trade and developing strategies for introducing North American consumer goods into the Taiwan market. Kevin was previously a Banking Legal Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP (S&C), a leading international corporate law firm based in New York City. At S&C, his work spanned a variety of projects related to federal/state regulatory and security matters for U.S. and foreign financial institutions, focusing on M&A, enforcement actions, and anti-money laundering. Kevin also performed market analyses of interbank competition, and conducted due diligence for M&A transactions. High profile M&A deals he was involved in, included Wachovia, Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group, and E-Trade. Kevin has also worked for Civic Exchange, a leading think tank in Hong Kong SAR, and for the Salzburg Seminar, a global think tank and conference center in Austria. Kevin has also lived in Singapore and Sri Lanka.
Kevin holds a BA from Middlebury College, where he graduated with High Honors in Political Science and concentrations in Economics and German. He studied advanced Mandarin at the National Taiwan University, and pursued graduate work in Political Economy at National Chengchi University. He is fluent in Mandarin and proficient in German and Taiwanese.
